Papers of David James Palmer, 1862-1887.

The papers of David James Palmer consist primarily of typescripts of his correspondence written during the Civil War. He served with the 8th Iowa Infantry Regiment, Company C, and the 25th Iowa Infantry Regiment, Company A. Most of the letters were written between August 1863 and May 1865. He describes campaigns and battles as well as camp life. Also included is a typescript of "Sing the Jubilee" by Helen E. Livingston. It was written using Col. Palmer's Civil War letters.
